Internal combustion hydrogen car
Hydrogen car … !!! Hello and don’t be tired, to the listeners and fans of car news, it is also of the latest type!! Have a nice and happy summer day; We hope that every one of you will feel good about this news!! Today, we are at your service with a news of the virtual test of the Porsche internal combustion hydrogen car at the Nürburgring… So don’t move and stay with us until the end of this news!!!
The future seems to be electric cars, but many automakers like Porsche haven’t put all their eggs in the electric and battery basket. Electric cars are only one of the ways to reduce the production of greenhouse gases, and hydrogen and synthetic fuels can be other solutions for this problem. Porsche, which has already made significant moves in the field of synthetic fuels, is now investing in hydrogen internal combustion engines and has recently completed a virtual test of a prototype. This company has simulated the lap of a large luxury car with this engine in Nurburgring and reached a time of 8 minutes and 20.2 seconds.
Porsche used its 4-liter V8 engine as a starting point for this virtual study and modified it to handle a higher compression ratio. In this test, the car reached a speed of 260 km/h. During these tests, Porsche found that the turbochargers needed twice as much air, but the lower temperature of the exhaust gases made this difficult, and because of this, Porsche had to use turbochargers with an electric assist.
The different settings of the turbochargers have made the engine show different advantages and disadvantages, but what is not a problem is the power because according to Porsche, this hydrogen engine produces about 590 horsepower, which is almost on the same level as the equivalent gasoline model. Porsche has tested this hydrogen engine in a car with a weight of 2,650 kg and a similar size to the Cayenne. Porsche simulations have shown that the engine can meet Euro 7 emissions standards.
Although the hydrogen car engine is more complicated and expensive than the traditional gasoline model, but because it does not need an exhaust gas purification system, the cost of its construction will be comparable to gasoline engines. Of course, Porsche has said that it has no plans to produce this hydrogen engine in its current form, and the purpose of this project was to test and investigate the potential of this technology. This study has also provided Porsche with valuable information on high-performance hydrogen engines.
Of course, this German company is not the only car manufacturer that works on hydrogen internal combustion engines because recently Ford registered a business plan of these engines and Toyota is also testing this technology. On the other hand, automakers like Hyundai continue to develop hydrogen fuel cell systems, but very few hydrogen refueling stations are considered the biggest obstacle on the way to bring this technology to the general public.
